Anglo to relocate head office in cost drive

[miningmx.com] – ANGLO American CEO, Mark Cutifani, had appointed an internal team to consider relocating its head office in the UK from its current 20 Carlton House Terrace premises – a property near Buckingham Palace, and designed by Regency architect John Nash.

The Sunday Times reported that the group wanted to engage with its landowner as the lease runs until 2020.

The move was part of a fresh round of cost-cutting by Cutifani and was described to send a message that “… the civil service-style days of Anglo are over”, said the Sunday Times.

There is no planned return of Anglo’s head office to South Africa, said Investec Securities. This is notwithstanding the fact that Cutifani has had himself elected to the chairmanship of Anglo American South Africa, it said.
