Kenya miners to seek lower power costs

[miningmx.com] – KENYA’S Chamber of Mines has asked the country’s government for lower electricity tariffs for its members in order to lower production costs and nurture growth, said Bloomberg News.

Kenyan power consumers pay an average of 18.7 US cents per kilowatt-hour, compared with 9 cents in neighboring Tanzania and 3 cents in Ethiopia, said Bloomberg News citing African Development Bank data.
