Presidential summit to discuss strike wave

[miningmx.com] — PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma has summoned business,
labour and civil society leaders to a meeting in Pretoria on Friday in a bid to find
solutions to the current wave of violent strikes that continues to disrupt several
sectors of the economy, reports BDLive.

On Thursday, Mr Zuma spoke out strongly at a Black Business Council summit in
Midrand against the violence associated with the strikes. He said that the destruction
of property and the beating and killing of people was “not acceptable’.

The Presidency said on Thursday that Mr Zuma had convened a meeting, at which he
will lead a ministerial delegation to discuss the state of the economy.

This will include talks on “the external and internal challenges that South Africa faces,
with a view to identifying what each social partner can do on its own, and in
partnership with others, to strengthen employment performance and economic
growth’, BDLive quoted the Presidency.

Among those who will attend are Business Unity SA (Busa), the Black Business
Council, Cosatu, the National Council of Trade Unions, the Federation of Unions of SA
and representatives of community organisations.
