
[miningmx.com] – BRUNO Kapandji, minister of energy in the Democratic Republic of Congo, said the country would start construction of the $12bn Inga II hydroelectric power station, reported Bloomberg News.
This was despite two earlier attempts to kickstart the project. “We have to demystify Inga, we have to show it’s an ordinary project,’ Kapandji said. “We could lay the first stone in October 2015.’
The emergence of South Africa has a potential buyer for some 2,500MW has also leant extra feasibility to the project, Bloomberg News said.
