
[miningmx.com] – A MEETING convened by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) has failed to end a strike over wages by members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) at Northam Platinum’s Zondereinde mine.
“Negotiations are not concluded yet,’ Marion Brower, a spokeswoman for Northam told Bloomberg News. “They need to convene again.’
The strike at Zondereinde is now more than than a month long. Northam Platinum said recently it had lost about R360m in revenue while employees had lost some R50m in basic wages.
