[miningmx.com] – LONMIN and Impala Platinum will receive strike notices from the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU) in days after failing to conclude wage negotiations, said Bloomberg News.
Lonmin will receive a notice on January 20 for a strike due to begin on January 23, said the newswire service citing Joseph Mathunjwa, president of AMCU. No date was given for the Impala Platinum walkout. Union members will meet on January 19 to decide on whether to strike at Anglo American Platinum.
“We are done with Lonmin, we are done with Impala,’ Mathunjwa told thousands of workers yesterday at the Wonderkop Stadium near Lonmin’s Marikana mine in the North West province.
