
[miningmx.com] – RUSSIA has upped the publicity around its potential involvement in South Africa’s proposed 9,600MW nuclear build programme, said BDLive, an online publication.
It said a series of reports on the country’s official broadcaster Voice of Russia indicated a deal has been struck to build South Africa’s nuclear power capability while in state-owned Russian corporation, Rosatom, signed an investment memorandum with the Nuclear Energy Corporation of SA (Necsa) at a nuclear suppliers forum in Johannesburg, said BDLive.
South Africa’s nuclear build programme is estimated to be about R1-trillion in value with several countries jockeying to win the tenders. A procurement process was close to finalisation, said BDLive which added there was confidence it would proceed in 2014.
