Evraz Highveld CEO to leave within a week

[miningmx.com] — Johannesburg – Evraz Highveld Steel and Vanadium, SA’s second-largest steel producer, said on Tuesday that its CEO had tendered his resignation.

The company, which is part of the Evraz Group, said Alexander Scott MacDonald’s resignation would be effective from Monday next week.

It did not say why MacDonald had resigned or why he would be leaving the company so soon.

MacDonald, who is also a director of Evraz Highveld Steel and Vanadium, has been credited with bringing Evraz Highveld operations back on track after the economic crisis.

Dmitrij Scuka, a current non-executive director of the company, will be acting as CEO until a permanent appointment has been made.
