[miningmx.com] — ESKOM’s two executive directors – CEO, Brian Dames and Paul O’Flaherty, chief financial officer, received R3.54m in bonus payouts in the past year in addition to normal salaries.
This is according to the Democratic Alliance (DA), South Africa’s official opposition party which said it would challenge the bonuses. “Yet Eskom cannot guarantee that we will have enough electricity-generating capacity through 2016,’ the DA said.
This follows a report on Monday by Sake24 which said Transnet SOC’s top management were paid R63.6m in bonuses on top of salaries that totalled R49.7m.
“It is in this light the DA will be delivering a submission to the Presidential State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Review Committee,’ the DA said.
