Amplats finance director resigns after deciding to leave SA

IAN Botha, finance director for Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) has resigned from the company after deciding to leave South Africa in order to pursue “other career opportunities”, the group said in a statement.

He will remain in his current role until the firm releases its 2018 annual results, scheduled for February 18, 2019. Botha has been with Anglo American for nearly 20 years.

“On behalf of the board and Anglo American Platinum, I would like to thank Ian for his commitment and diligence during his time at Anglo American Platinum,” said Chris Griffith, CEO of Amplats. “He has made an immense contribution, and played an instrumental part in repositioning the business during a period of continued economic uncertainty. We wish him well with his future endeavours,” he added.

Amplats said its nominations committee would begin a process to identify a suitable successor.
