Amplats won’t sell mines on the cheap

[miningmx.com] – ANGLO American Platinum (Amplats) told unions it would not sell its non-core assets if bids for them failed to meet price targets, said Bloomberg News citing UASA a union representing mine supervisors.

“If I don’t get my price I won’t sell the mines,’ said Franz Stehring, head of mining at union UASA who was quoting Amplats officials at a meeting they had recently. Amplats has said it would consider listing the platinum units as an alternative.

The Anglo American controlled group also said that it felt it would “be doing well” if it completed the sale of the platinum mines before the end of the 2015 financial year.
