
[miningmx.com] – RUSSIAN investors will next month sign an agreement with the Zimbabwean government to build a $1.6bn platinum mine and smelter, said Bloomberg News citing Zimbabwe mines minister, Walter Chidakwa.
“The project will naturally involve mining, putting up concentrators to concentrate the ore and they will then put up a smelter, a platinum group metal smelter,’ Chidakwa told the newswire agency.
The Darwendale platinum project has the participation of OOO VI Holding and state corporations Rostec and Vnesheconombank, said Bloomberg News adding that the mine will be built first at a cost of between $400m to $500m.
