AngloGold suffers fatality at Mponeng

[miningmx.com] – ANGLOGOLD Ashanti said it had suffered a fatality at it Mponeng mine west of Johannesburg after a stope team leader was caught in a fall of ground on November 7.

“The DMR has been notified and an in loco inspection was carried out,” AngloGold said in an announcement. “In the meantime, Management has stopped activities on the section where the incident occurred,” it said.

“AngloGold Ashanti would like to express its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased. Management is working with the employee’s family to assist them through this difficult time,” the company said.
