Sibanye mineworkers face arrest after violence

[miningmx.com] – ELEVEN mineworkers at Sibanye Gold’s Beatrix mine face arrest for attempted murder and assault after the conclusion of an investigation into a union clash in February that saw operations suspended for two days.

Citing a company statement, BDLive said that six employees would be charged with attempted murder, and five for assault with the intent of grievous bodily harm.

“Sibanye will also have to consider its options regarding its legal recourse regarding damages that the company incurred due to lost production. We trust that the outcome of the investigation will be respected by the unions and that we will be able to continue to operate in a peaceful environment”, the statement read.
