[miningmx.com] – ROGER Baxter, chief operations officer and senior economist at the Chamber of Mines, will become the organisation’s CEO effective May 1 following the early retirement of Bheki Sibiya.
Sibiya congratulated Baxter and thanked former mines minister, Susan Shabangu, and her successor, Ngoako Ramatlhodi, for their leadership. He also thanked union leaders for “… their robust co-operation”.
Baxter has often lead the line at the chamber on important strategic matters and was a key member of its team at MIGDETT, a tripartite organisation consisting of unions, government and industry which negotiated issues such as proposed amendments to the Mineral & Petroleum Resources Amendment Act, and the recent mining charter compliance audit.
