In a speech to the American Chamber of Business today, Malema also said the replacement of mines minister Ngoako Ramatlhodi with Mosebenzi Zwane was a sign of government corruption as the latter was sympathetic to the mining ambitions of the Gupta family with whom South African president, Jacob Zuma, had close business ties.
Malema said there would be a state-owned mining company that would control, not merely own, the country’s mines. “We don’t want to be robbed here. We want to know what’s going in and out. It’s happening in Botswana. You can do it here.”
