Zimbabwe sets March indigenisation deadline

[miningmx.com] – ZIMBABWE imposed a March deadline for all foreign companies to submit new indigenisation compliance plans, said BDLive which published a report written originally by Fin24.

Indigenisation is Zimbabwe’s black economic empowerment policy and has been a source of uncertainty for South African platinum miners, such as Impala Platinum and Anglo American Platinum, for years.

“The emphasis is on implementation of the indigenisation law starting with the submission of the Indigenisation Implementation Plan which every company affected should submit as soon as possible, but no later than March 31 2016,” said indigenisation minister, Patrick Zhuwao – the nephew of President Robert Mugabe.
