[miningmx.com] – ANGLOGOLD Ashanti has stopped pumping water from Blyvoor 5 shaft because it had not been reimbursed by Goldrich, the firm that was handed operating control of Blyvoor by the mine’s joint provisional liquidators, said Bloomberg News.
AngloGold Ashanti agreed to pump water from the shaft which neighbours its Savuka gold mine on the west Rand of Johannesburg. It had previously bought two other shafts from Blyvoor – 4 and 6 shafts – in order to continue de-watering Savuka.
“When no payment was made, despite a number of requests which were ignored over several months, AngloGold Ashanti ceased pumping at Blyvoor 5 shaft while continuing to pump as originally planned at Blyvoor 4 shaft and Blyvoor 6 shaft,’ Bloomberg News quoted AngloGold Ashanti to have said.
The joint provisional liquidators are seeking to have Goldrich, which is operating under business rescue proceedings, removed as the operator of Blyvoor.
