
[miningmx.com] – PRESSURE from the Zimbabwean government on platinum miners to build a refinery in the country had been overstated, said BDlive citing comments by Impala Platinum (Implats) spokesperson, Alice Lourens.
“I don’t know where this story is coming from. We have received a nicely worded invitation to participate in discussions around beneficiation,” Lourens told BDLive.
Shares in Implats had dropped 10% this week after the Zimbabwean government reportedly said a platinum refinery ought to be built by platinum miners by year-end – a a deadline government sources later acknowledged was unrealistic.
