[miningmx.com] – THE bodies of two illegal miners were recovered from the abandoned mine where 25 other men surfaced in the past three days, said Bloomberg News citing Rudi Nieuwoudt, a safety manager at Benoni Gold Mining Company.
One of the bodies was discovered close to the opening that leads to the old gold mine and another was located further underground, said Bloomberg News. The opening to the mine was on public land next to Benoni Gold’s property.
A further three illegal miners surfaced at the property of New Kleinfontein which is about 3km from Benoni Gold Mining Company’s mine. New Kleinfontein is owned by Gold One International.
The three miners told Gold One “… there were no-one further waiting to exit,’ said Grant Stuart, a spokesperson for Gold One International.
