
[miningmx.com] – LONMIN’S workers wanted to come back to work, said the platinum firm’s spokesperson, Sue Vey, who added that they didn’t understand how the strike affected their personal circumstances.
“A lot of people are saying they want to come back to work,” spokeswoman Sue Vey told Bloomberg News in an article republished by BDLive.
A strike of wages staged by the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union at Lonmin, and at the Rustenburg premises of Impala Platinum and Anglo American Platinum, is now into its fifth week with no apparent end in sight.
Workers “understand the percentages but they don’t really understand how it affects their personal circumstances”, Vey said.
