Platinum wage talks to resume on Feb. 4

[miningmx.com] – WAGE talks between South Africa’s largest platinum producers and the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU) would resume on February 4 (Tuesday) after failing to find a resolution over the weekend.

Quoted by BDLive, the Council for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), which is convening the wage talks, said: “Details of the content of discussions between parties may not be revealed”.

It added, however, that it had made proposals that the two sides will consider. “Talks will resume on Tuesday,” the CCMA said.

AMCU national treasurer Jimmy Gama told AFP: “The employers need time to reflect on the proposals, and they will do an offer on Tuesday.”
