
[miningmx.com] – GOVERNMENT equity in private sector investments can protect against renegotiation of contracts and need not be frowned upon by companies, said BDLive citing the Columbia Law School and the Earth Institute at Columbia University in New York.
The study by the university found that giving equity to both private investors and the state does not raise the overall risk of investment project failure, said BDLive.
The findings, released on December 23, are relevant to South Africa as it embarks on a R4 trillion infrastructure spending programme over the next 15 years, said BDLive.
