Nene calls for speedy strike resolution

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African finance minister, Nhlanhla Nene, said strikes in the country ought to be resolved “quickly” and in an “amicable way” to avoid crippling the economy.

In an article by BDLive, Nene is quoted as saying: “”At the end no one benefits. If you look at the long protracted mining one (strike), we all stand to lose”.

The economy contracted 0.6% in the first quarter of 2014 partly owing to a five-month long strike in the platinum sector called by the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union (AMCU).
