
[miningmx.com] – MILDRED Oliphant, South African labour minister, is to extend talks with unions in a bid to stem the violence that most recently erupted at Lonmin when two members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) were shot, one fatallly.
“The shootings are tragic and law enforcement agencies should move to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book,’ Oliphant’s spokesperson told Bloomberg News.
“The minister yesterday called on union leaders to show necessary leadership and deal with inter-union issues,’ he said.
